The Foundation for the Education of Rural Children is dedicated to assisting poor, rural Thai and hill tribe children in Northern Thailand.  In existence since 1999, the Foundation has established a strong reputation both for its fiscal management and its ability to effectively target funds to areas of greatest need.  The Foundation has recently focused on projects as far-ranging as building dormitories, supplying vehicles for social workers to monitor remote foster homes, teaching sustainable farming, starting grassroots day care centers, providing scholarships, and intervention in human trafficking.

On September 22, 2007, Rebecca Lomax and Frank Weicks, Foundation Board members, will be visiting the Bay Area. At our reception, you can meet them and listen to them as they briefly explain the work of the Foundation and talk about ways you can become involved. The event will also provide an opportunity to bid on truly unique and beautifully crafted items produced by artisans in Northern Thailand, including textiles, decorative items, and jewelry. Appetizers and wine will be provided.
